Canberra Art Workshop
1 May, Location to be advised
Plein-air painting can be quite a different process to working in the studio, and much can be learned and experienced about painting from working in this way. This 4 hour Watercolour workshop will be conducted outdoors, at a site to be selected by our tutor (should the weather be unsuitable for painting, the workshop will be held at the ASC studio where reference will be made to provided photo source material).
Mark is a highly experienced plein-air painter and tutor of outdoor painting workshops. He will take you through all the steps: how do I determine what greens to use, and how do I go about mixing these? How do I go about editing and structuring my painting? What mark making and technique do I bring to the broad sky, the tactile qualities of grasses and foliage, and the vibrant reflections in water? When working in the landscape you can see and feel nature directly, and this can encourage immediacy and directness in your painting.
