Art Workshops Melbourne
Georgi Gelalles
L = All levels
4-week extension class beginning April 8.
Live models are essential for the figure sculptor. All levels students can enjoy step-by-step instruction in building an armature and creating a full figure or portrait ceramic sculpture. We emphasize classical realism as well as modern semi-abstract trends.
Each week we review and analyze modern figurative sculpture as well as classic forms. All students will complete at least one portrait or figure by the end of class.
Model fee extra and collected at first class. Due to various sizes of work produced, clay and firing fees are not included.
Firing Fees - determined by size of project; bags of clay - $25 each

A rare opportunity to combine what you create in clay with pieces from others, resulting in a challenge and a departure from your usual work.
I am one of those people who played “Art Teacher” to my younger brother and sister, at age 6. I have always loved drawing, painting, and the visual world. Clay is just a wider field of expression in the creative field. So I like to teach my passion about this medium with the hope that my students also find it fascinating.
I enjoy all aspects of clay: wheel throwing; hand building; and sculpture. With my BFA in painting I tend also to combine painting with certain forms. My approach to teaching is to encourage every student to find their own “voice” in clay. Discovering clay’s huge range of possibilities, sharing what I have learned over a decade of teaching, and seeing students explore what clay can do, make it an exciting medium to teach.
B= Beginner
Create a head from a hollow wheel-thrown vessel by working from the inside and the outside at the same time. See where this open-ended technique leads you by exploring features, textures, and altering clay. Animal heads, people, or your own creations with features are welcome.

A studio course that explores the extruder. Making pieces primarily extruded, sometimes adding slabs and thrown work, you will add visual and functional interest to your pottery.
Heather Everett
Combine abstract acrylic painting with encaustic and other mixed media techniques to add texture, dimension and interest to your art. Individual expression and freeing of the creative spirit will be an emphasis of this course.
Heather Everett is an expressionist painter who delves into the pure essence of nature, extracting its purest form, elegant movement, & rich color.
Born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD, Heather Everett moved to Florida in 1994 and started painting in 1998. As a self taught artist, she had much success in South Florida before moving to Paris in 2000, exhibiting with Atelier Artmonique. Heather moved to Satellite Beach in 2001, and in 2004 opened the Heather Everett Studio and Gallery, sharing what she had learned with adults and children. For the past 8 years, she has proudly taught for the visual art program at Indian Harbour Montessori school.
Exhibiting with Agora Gallery in NYC and extensively throughout Central and South Florida, Heather has found her "art family" in the Eau Gallie Arts District, first by opening the EGAD! ArtLab with Derek Gores, then as a resident artist with the Off Center Art Center, and now as an adjunct instructor for the Renee Foosaner Education Center. Heather teaches a variety of classes and workshops for children and adults.

Raku is fun, fast, and exhilarating! In this four class session, you’ll make, trim, glaze and fire your piece.
While the ancient art of pottery began thousands of years ago, my own journey began more recently, when I formed my first pot in 1978 at the young age of 13. The feeling of the clay in my hands continues to enthrall me to this day. Through many personal achievements and failures, as well as the tutelage of several raku masters, with special individual thanks to Charles & Linda Riggs, I’ve discovered magic in its most elemental and purest form.
In 2004 and 2005, I worked, honed my craft, learned new skills, perfected older ones, at Roundtree Pottery in Panama CityFlorida. While officially employed as a Raku "production potter", I was given the opportunity to develop designs, create glazes, and begin to build my skills as an instructor.
